I am not a big fan of those dna search websites. I won't ever use one. I had a dad that died around 2ish years ago, but before that, I had never met him. Ever. But when he passed his family found me using some sort of search, and they reached out to me to tell me that he died. I did not have any F's to give. He had 40 years to meet me and he did not take the chance. Not one time. I drove my car with a paper map to Pennsylvania when I was right out of high school to meet him and his family, but my dad dipped out the day before I arrived. So when I saw this story today on CNN and it reminded me why I just dont like those search engines for people. After being missing for over 60 years, Audrey Jean Backeberg was found in an out-of-state location. A detective located her through Ancestry.com, and she confirmed she didn’t want to be found. The Sheriff’s Office concluded that her disappearance was her own choice, and she seemed content with her decision when contacted. Let that poor woman live her life. She's been gone for 60 years, she did not want to be found.
