Claire's Boutique had a chokehold on my entire childhood and they grew with me through all my phases too. I got my ears pierced at Claire's for the first time. You could get a free piercing with a purchase of studs for the piercing. They even claim they've pierced more than 100,000,000 ears worldwide. That's also when/where I found out I'm highly allergic to nickel which is found in almost all jewelry except the good stuff. Birthday parties in grade school? Claire's. School pics? Claire's. First really sparkly cubic zirconia that made you feel like rich royalty? Claire's! So when I heard they had filed for bankruptcy it stung a bit. But then it forced me to think about when was the last time that I even shopped there. I honestly can not remember. It's not that long ago, but not memorable enough that I can remember it. I would occasionally stop in as an adult to pick up something small and cute for someone and I always ended up with something for me too. Remember the first prom you went to? All of your bling came straight from the big display wall at Claire's Boutique. What is happening to retail? Is it online shopping killing it? Whatever it is, Claire's has fallen victim. So when are the clearance sales? Not so fast, yes they did file bankruptcy but they also just sold out to another company who says they won't close more stores than they have to, so no big liquidation sales. RIP Claire's you cheap sparkly bitch you.
