Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today its fine to eat tacos and drink margaritas, but remember only absolutely trash people wear fake mustaches and ponchos and sombreros. No no, we are not doing that. But we are drinking margaritas! I don't drink as much as I used to and definitely not as much as I want to, but the one thing I really miss, are margaritas. I like them original, mango, frozen, over ice and even sometimes with a beer on top. But I do not like a salted or sugar rim. I don't know why, but I just absolutely do not dig any sort of fancy rim. No thank you. So what makes a perfect margarita? I love a freshly squeezed top shelf tequila margarita. I did a deep dive of margaritas of all types and this is what I have found is the perfect margarita. Enjoy!
- Tequila: Use a good quality 100% agave white tequila.
- Triple Sec: Use a high-quality triple sec for the best results.
- Lime: You'll need freshly squeezed lime juice, plus lime slices for garnishing.
- Salt: Use coarse salt for the rim of the glass.
Combine tequila, triple sec, and lime juice in a shaker with ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker is frosted, then strain into a prepared glass.
